Mihail Kogălniceanu TOWN - PRESENTATION

 

Mihail Kogălniceanu is located 26 km northwest of the city Constanţa. The town has an area of 16 551 ha and a population of 10 114 inhabitants, most Romanians, along Aromanians, Turks, Tartars, Roma and Germans ethnic. The villages subordinated to the town are Palazu Mic and Piatra.
The main economic activity carried out in the town is agriculture, followed by industry and trade. Also, the existence of International Airport Mihail Kogălniceanu and the NATO military base led to the development of services and a significant economic increase at the level of the town.
Establishment with a rich historical past, the M. Kogălniceanu town can be proud with its significant historical and cultural objectives, including: the Roman aqueduct system, the Neolithic settlement Sitorman (Hamangia and Gumelniţa culture), the Roman-Catholic Church built in Gothic style and the Ethnographic Museum of Aromanians etc.
