AGIGEA TOWN - PRESENTATION

Located just 8 km south to Constanţa municipality, the town Agigea has 4528 ha and is composed of two rural towns, namely Agigea and Lazu.
The two towns are separated by the Danube - Black Sea Canal.
The population of the town exceeds 4480 people, most of Romanian nationality, but also Tatar, Turkish and Roma.
Extensive agricultural land in the administrative territory of the town influenced its economic orientation, most of the commercial companies performing activities of trade with agricultural products. Diversified traffic conditions and its high capacity, the Danube - Black Sea Canal, the double line electrified railway with ramifications to the Port Constanţa South Agigea and the national roads are factors involved in the facilitation and support of these activities of internal and international trade, so that in the future Agigea can become a commercial center of vital importance. The town Lazu, subordinate to the Agigea town, has developed as residential area. The residential complex is located in a modern neighbourhood, endowed with all utilities, accessible and quiet.
In Agigea currently exist two balneo-sanatoria. The TBC sanatorium is the only hospital of its kind in the country, being specialized in the cure of osteoarticular tuberculosis.

Among the projects of development intended is the European highway Bucharest – Istanbul, which will cross the Agigea town, the establishment of a stock market for agricultural products, and of facilities for nautical sports and leisure.
