Strong points

 

  • favourable geo-economic position;
  • diversified road and rail network, with a strong character of transit;
  • small distance from the city of Constanţa (10 km) ensuring maximum accessibility of students to high schools and of employed people to their workplaces;
  • relatively well developed infrastructure of utilities for water, sewer, electricity and heat supply;
  • low level of conflicts between citizens;
  • institutional capacity to implement projects in infrastructure;
  • upgraded telecommunications network;
  • effective collaboration between policy makers within the town;
  • in the town there are medical cabinets, pharmacies, a test and EKG laboratory;
  • balanced distribution of medical professionals per capita;
  • low pollution;
  • existence of green areas (forests), of agricultural cultures that enrich the microclimate.

  • relatively small underground resources;
  • dryness specific to Dobrogea region;
  • acute shortage of jobs;
  • rising trend of the unemployment rate;
  • average level of education below the national average;
  • insufficient training for the unemployed persons and lack of correlation with labour market needs;

  • migration of medical professionals to other areas or other countries;
  • high costs for adopting the waste management at European standards.
